Svenja Schlöpke Receives Rudolf-Vogel Award
Oct 10, 2007
Fronterra Integrated Gesociences is proud to announce that our employee, Svenja Schlöpke, has received the Rudolf-Vogel award from the Clausthal Technical Institute in Germany where she studied. The following is a translation of the press release from the Institute:
Clausthal-Zellerfeld.
Clausthal alumni geologist Svenja Schlöpke received the Rudolf-Vogel-Award 2007. This award is granted to young scientists for outstanding work in geological and mining research in exploration and exploitation of natural mineral deposits. Miss Schlöpke is granted the award for her Masters/Diploma thesis “Software-Supported Modeling of the Hohenbocka Quartz Deposit with Experimental Analyses of FE-impoverishment in Quartz Sands”. The award is endowed with 2000 Euro.
In her thesis Svenja Schlöpke deals with two problems. First, in cooperation with Quarzwerke GmbH she developed a 3-dimensinal model for the quartz sand deposit Hohenbocka. Secondly, she analyzed and treated sand samples from the quartz sand deposit Weferling with respect to mineralogy and conditioning in order to reach the highest possible level of Quartz purity by eliminating Fe-components. “Overall, her work excelled with respect to language, graphics and content”, judges Professor Kurt Mengel, mentor from the Institute of Endlagerforschung. Ms Schlöpke was exceptionally diligent in her analytical efforts and independently searched for solutions to both problems.
Since the award recipient is in Argentina until March 2008 for professional reasons the award will be presented in April 2008 instead of October this year.
