Petrophysical Analysis in Siberia
We analyzed the delineation wells for a large (more than one billion barrels-in-place) oil discovery in Western Siberia for a major Russian oil company. The field is onshore, near the Arctic Ocean. The logs were all old style Russian logs, however the wells also had numerous cores and flow tests. All of the available data were evaluated and incorporated into an overall petrophysical analysis.

Due to the presence of some low resistivity, low SP deflection pay zones (confirmed by flow tests), a capillary pressure model was developed. It was used to help determine and verify the water saturation (Sw). The model also proved useful in illustrating which hydrocarbon zones were part of the main reservoir and which were isolated pay zones.
